CHRY-SAIL-IS (2026) is a vessel built for Hello Wood’s Cabin Fever 2026 summer festival, as one of four selected projects from their international open call. Chry-sail-is, a play on 'Chrysilis' explores the relationship between scaffolding and form, creating a vessel which suspends decommissioned sailboat sails from San Fransisco, CA from a rigid and stationary timber scaffolding system. The canvas breathes, shifts, and holds constant tension between permanence and change, flowing in the wind, on land rather than at sea. Rooted in a site shaped by industrial textile production and wartime aviation, the project weaves together histories of making and movement, allowing discarded materials to carry old stories into new forms.
